History

The Patrician Brothers founded St. Joseph’s Academy on 2nd March, 1934. Starting with only 15 students and 7 staff members, under the guidance of Bro. Adrian Keogh as the school’s first principal and a community of Brothers, the school grew rapidly to become one of the leading educational institutions of Dehradun.

In 1936, the Heritage Building was completed and boarding was introduced to St. Joseph’s Academy for better education. However, this was discontinued due to lack of space in 1976. Over the years, the school has grown tremendously, and in the year 2009 it celebrated its Platinum Jubilee.

In the year 1976, the school officially became an affiliate of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi, which conducts the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ICSE – X) and the Indian School Certificate Examination (ISC – XII) Examinations, before which the answer scripts were sent to England for checking.
